OLYMPUS Olympus CV-100 Video Processor

OLYMPUS

Olympus CV-100 Video Processor

The Olympus CV-100 is an endoscopy video processor with single-plate color chip technology for high-resolution, true color images without break-up. It includes AGC, selectable iris modes, a fast shutter up to 1/250s, and adjustable hue control.

Olympus CV-100 Video Processor

The CV-100 is a video processor built for endoscopy imaging. Its single-plate color chip design produces high-resolution, true color video without the image break-up that can affect older processors.

  • Automatic gain control (AGC): keeps image brightness steady even when the light level drops.
  • Iris mode selection: switches between AVERAGE and PEAK exposure measurement. AVERAGE is the standard setting; PEAK dims the brightest part of the image, which helps with observation of the gastric angle.
  • Fast shutter: runs at 1/60 second for most exams, with a 1/250 second option to reduce blur when the scope or the subject is moving.
  • Hue adjustment level indicator: lets the user fine-tune red and blue for personal preference.
  • Mode selector: choose FIELD mode for movement-free frozen images, or FRAME mode for better vertical resolution when examining small areas.
  • Enhancement selector: three levels of outline/edge enhancement for clearer detail on protruding structures.
  • Sub screen: when turned on, shows a live image in the lower-left corner of the monitor while the main image is frozen.
  • VTR switch: starts and stops recording of the monitor image onto videotape (VTR must be in record-pause mode).
  • Videoprinter release switch: prints the monitor image.
  • Monitor output selector: picks between RGB, Y/C, or NTSC signal output for different monitors and ancillary devices; the Y/C output is meant for S-VHS recorders.
  • Remote switch function display: shows which of the videoscope's four remote switch functions are pre-selected.
  • Record destination selector: routes the image to up to four still-image recording systems.
  • Videoscope cable holder: holds the cable connector securely when it's not attached to the videoscope, so it doesn't get damaged.

The CV-100 pairs with a specific set of Olympus equipment to form a complete endoscopy tower.

  • Light source: requires an Olympus CLV-U20 or CLV-U40 light source. The light source's pigtail plugs into the "AUX" port on the front of the CLV-U20 to control light adjustment from the processor.
  • Videoscopes: works with standard and big-chip endoscopes, including scopes from the Olympus EVIS 100 series.
  • Monitor: any monitor accepting RGB, Y/C, or NTSC input, selected through the processor's Monitor Output Selector.
  • Video tape recorder (VTR): standard VTRs, or S-VHS recorders via the Y/C output, controlled through the VTR start/stop switch.
  • Video printer: a compatible Olympus, Pentax, or Fujinon video printer, triggered by the Videoprinter Release Switch. Note that printer paper and remote cables are typically sold separately.
  • Still-image recording systems: up to four devices — video image recorder, magnetic disk, videodisk, or digital filter — connected through the Record Destination Selector.
