Olympus UPD-3 ScopeGuide processor designed to provide real-time 3D visualization of the colonoscope’s shape and position, helping identify loops and guide scope insertion during colonoscopy.
The OLYMPUS UPD-3 is the central detection unit of the ScopeGuide 3 system, designed to provide three-dimensional visualization of the colonoscope during colonoscopy. By detecting signals generated by electromagnetic coils located within the insertion tube, the unit displays the position and orientation of the endoscope in real time.
The 3D representation is displayed alongside the conventional endoscopic image, helping the practitioner identify loop formation and adjust the position of the colonoscope more efficiently. This provides additional guidance during the procedure and can help reduce physical strain for both the patient and the operator.
Designed for hospital and endoscopy-room use, the UPD-3 combines a compact format with practical system integration. Its dimensions of 370 × 482 × 81 mm and weight of approximately 9 kg make it suitable for installation and movement within an endoscopy environment.
The unit connects with compatible OLYMPUS EVIS EXERA CV-190 and CLV-190 systems to display the 3D scope position simultaneously with the endoscopic image.
The UPD-3 uses electromagnetic detection technology to track the position of the colonoscope. The system works in coordination with the receiver cup and manual coil, allowing medical staff to assess the position of the colonoscope and identify an appropriate area for applying external abdominal pressure when required.
Its electromagnetic technology is specified according to IEEE C95.1-2005 + A1:2010. The synchronized display of the colonoscope's actual position and its movement on the screen provides an additional visual reference during colonoscopic procedures.
The OLYMPUS UPD-3 provides three-dimensional visualization of colonoscope positioning and integrates with compatible Olympus endoscopy systems to offer an additional anatomical reference during colonoscopy.
